These are such exciting days to be living in. God is working faster than ever and I really think that His love for me is mind boggling. I have to share a couple of things that I would like to bless you with.
1) A great read - "The Reconstruction of the Church - On What Pattern?" by E. Stanley Jones.
What impacts me about this book (and I'm only on page 31) is how he talks about how secularism has taken root in the Church (the Body) and that it has basically taken on the commandment "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." When Jesus had entered the scene, the main commandment that people kept was "Love the Lord thy God with all thine heart..." But He linked the two. You have to have both to fulfill the heart of God.
I love this because sometimes we get really caught up in one or the other without fulfilling both commandments. He pointed out that John 3:16 needs to be linked to 1 John 3:16. You should look at that! It's kind of great! I love E. Stanley Jones. His insights are awesome (even if he is dead!)
then;
2) I want to encourage you to not only watch how God works, but to see Him as He reveals Himself in the midst of His "working." Our Bible study yesterday talked about how sometimes we even get distracted by how God works and miss the opportunity to know Him better. It's like when a man proposes and the girl is more taken by the ring than the man! Can you imagine that! I have to laugh because we are so like that! We ask the Father for something and then He answers and we miss the point of His gift! And He still comes back to love us more!
How very thankful I am for a League of Extraordinary Women who love God's word and bless me with their friendships and wisdom.
Let me know if you find that book and read it! I love dialogue!
