Updates and News Briefs

February 16, 2021

Today we received the sad news that our friend, Irving Roth passed away. Irving was born in Kosice, Czechoslovakia in 1929. He experienced the horrors of the Holocaust and survived with memories of those who didn't.
Irving has given a voice to those who weren't so fortunate and it is because of that we recognize the warning signs of our own day and age. Irving served as director of the Holocaust Resource Center - Temple Judea of Manhasset and is a recognized speaker on anti-semitism through the ages and the Holocaust. He survived Auschwitz and Buchenwald which he tells about in his book "Bondi's Brother." In 2004 Irving received the Spirit of Anne Frank Outstanding Citizen Award from the Anne Frank Center USA for fostering human rights, social justice, and for conceiving, developing and initiating the Adopt a Survivor program.

Irving joined with a Christian organization called Christians United for Israel with Pastor John Hagee to be able to bring Jews and Christians together to fight anti-Semitism and engage with our lawmakers to fight BDS (Boycott, Divest and Sanctions) against Israel. Together they made a strong platform that even engaged a young former Muslim man named Kaseem Hafeez to speak about what is happening around the world today with the same rhetoric that Irving heard prior to the world war that brought on the Holocaust.

It is with great sadness and yet joy to know that we had the remarkable privilege of knowing Irving and sharing a bit of his journey. I know that somewhere along the way, God was faithful to bless him with all of us who loved him so well.
